Langley is an area of Middleton in the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, Greater Manchester, England. Created as a Manchester overspill estate in the 1950s and 60s, it is 4.4 miles (7.1 km) south-southwest of Rochdale and 5.5 miles (8.9 km) north-northeast of Manchester City Centre.Langley as a district pushes down into Middleton as far as Limetrees Road. It is thought by some that top street denotes the top of Middleton but this is not the case.

The Langley estate is an overspill housing development that was created in the 1950s for Manchester City Council.[1] Families moved in to the new housing from the slum clearance areas of Manchester, the eventual population was about 25,000 - doubling the population size of Middleton.[1] Langley today comprises one of the largest council estates in Europe. It is named after Thomas Langley, as is the nearby school Cardinal Langley Roman Catholic High School.

In 1990, Langley estate was the focus of a satanic panic [2] and in 2006 twelve of the now-adult victims sued Rochdale Council for compensation.

and The Ken Loach film, Raining Stones, was filmed in and around Langley in 1993.
